Strokes

Strokes

No matter what people tell you, a squirtboat is still a kind of kayak. So all of your normal kayaking strokes still apply. In Tupperware, you only have to worry about your edges when in the current but in a squirtboat, the edges are always engaged. Everytime you take a stroke in a squirtboat, you must adjust your edges to match. Example: take a right forward sweep stroke, if your left edge is engaged you will sink the bow, a right edge will sink the stern. Most squirters make turns on the stern since it is lighter and doesn’t sink as fast as the bow. Practice your basic kayaking strokes and work on matching your edges to get the desired results.
