Airbags are an important safety feature in a kayak as they prevent the kayak from filling up completely when submerged and help it float. Airbags come in different sizes and shapes to fit different boats. Look for the right size airbag for your kayak. Ideally you will need two airbags tied into the back of your kayak, one down each side of the stern wall (or one bag if you are using a Jackson creek / fun float). In large touring kayaks you can also get an additional airbag to go in the very front of the kayak, behind the footrest plate at the bow of the boat.
