One of the joys of being a teacher is that I have my summers off. This year, I decided to work for the NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center) near Bryson City, NC. As a kayak instructor, I see many different sides to kayaking. From beginners to advanced paddlers, the NOC has a place for all. One of the things that Jackson Kayak brings to the NOC and the paddling school, is the ease to outfit boats. With a pull of a string, kayakers are outfitted in a matter of seconds. Another great thing that Jackson Kayak brings to the world of kayak instruction, is the ability to get kids in a whitewater kayak that actually fits them!
One of my recent instruction clients was an 8 year old boy that seems to love the water. He showed up in his very own Jackson Sidekick. On day one, the lake was the name of the game. We went over paddling basics, playing a few games that included standing up in his Sidekick and my Zen to see who could balance longer, and of course, swimming! On day two, this guy wanted to tackle the river but was a bit intimidated to paddle on his own. We busted out the Dynamic Duo and confidence was born.
It brings a smile to my face to see so many young guns out there in boats that fit them and instill confidence thanks to various options that Jackson Kayaks provides!
